Geometric surveying after spindle replacement – why it is indispensable

Replacing a spindle changes the mechanical interface between the spindle and the machine.

Even with precisely fitting replacement or exchange spindles, minimal deviations in assembly, contact surfaces or alignment lead to geometric errors in the micrometer range.

Without geometric measurement, these deviations remain undetected. Typical consequences include dimensional errors, poorer surface finishes, increased tool wear, additional bearing load, and in the worst case, renewed spindle damage.

The spindle replacement is only technically correct once the geometric measurements have been completed. This is not an additional service, but a prerequisite for process reliability, tool life, and reproducible quality.
