Targeted reduction of downtime

In maintenance, when a spindle fails, one thing counts above all: time.

Downtime directly impacts output, deadlines and costs – often significantly more than the actual repair costs.

A typical approach is the use of an exchange spindle:
Instead of waiting several days or weeks for a repair, a tested and ready-to-use spindle is installed immediately. This allows the machine to be restarted quickly.

Simultaneously, the removed spindle is analyzed and repaired on-site. This has several advantages:
  • Production continues
  • The repair can be carried out technically cleanly and without time pressure.
  • The original spindle will later be available again as a spare.

This approach has proven particularly effective with critical machines and tight cycle times.

An additional component is the so-called spindle hotel:
Customers have the option of storing their own spindles at Deuschle – for example, if they have used a replacement spindle in the event of a previous failure and do not need the original spindle immediately after the repair.

In practical terms, this means:
  • Available replacement spindles immediately upon request
  • No in-house warehousing or organization required
  • rapid response in the event of the next spindle failure

In the long term, this creates an individual pool of spare spindles, which further reduces downtime and increases planning reliability.

Experience shows:
Companies that use exchangeable spindles and spindle hotel concepts can significantly reduce and better control their downtime – especially for recurring applications or critical machines.
